Escape Velocity Music Logo

Project Vision

The client had a very particular vision for their logo, but they were also curious about some other ideas. They wanted a logo inspired by the space race era and some retro-futuristic aesthetics. After our understanding their needs, I got to work.

Goals

1 - Understand the client’s needs and the overall feeling their logo should embody. They want to put this on the headstock of a guitar, so it needs to be visible from a distance and fit in a tight space.

2 - Research properly to create quality options for them to choose from.

3 - Design a logo that leans into their personality and worldview that sets them apart from their competition.

1. Research

For a project like this that will be inspired by existing aesthetics, Pinterest can be a designer’s best friend. I researched a lot of designs aspects of retro-futuristic typefaces as well as how other guitar companies use the space on their headstocks to ensure that their logos stood out.

2. Options

Based on our conversation, I created a few options for the client to provide some feedback on.

3. Revisions

After reviewing those initial ideas, the client had a more specific idea in mind that was more space-themed. After talking it over together, I came back with something that fit more of the vision they had in their mind.

3. Revisions Part 2

This second round of designs met their needs more closer to their ideas, and we moved forward in this direction. They preferred the second variation, and we iterated on that a bit more, cleaning it up to produce the final product.

4. Final Design

After a little bit of back and forth to get everything just right for them, we had the final logo for Escape Velocity Music!

5. Additional Branding Assets

We also had a short conversation on the colors and branding they should use to best communicate their brand to their potential customers. After some discussion, I presented this basic guide for their brand.
